Egg Epidemic
This story assignment was about the egg prices raising around the country and what people are doing to get around them. It required me to focus on capturing good A roll and B roll footage to display my story. I produced this with only my iPhone. Throughout the process, I worked on improving my ability to ask good interview questions while creating a final product that communicated a clear visual story.

Some of the most interesting discoveries I made while working on this story involved was how easy it is to do everything from your phone. I realized that with a phone everything was more accessible and easier to get to, which changed the way I approached the project. For example, if I had a big camera filming in a Walmart then it might raise a ton of red flags for the store. I also discovered how stress free it was with controlling the light exposure because the phone updated it so quickly.

One of the challenges I encountered while working on this story was filming in a store like Walmart or Target. For example, I know they value their customers privacy and aren't to fond of people recording in their establishment. These obstacles forced me to adjust my approach and think more carefully about how I planned and executed each step. I overcame the challenges by being very respectful to people around me and using only the products for the most part in my footage. For example, I would wait for the isle to be empty before I shot my footage. Working through these issues strengthened my problem-solving skills and helped me better understand how to adapt during the production process.

I will use what I learned from this story assignment in future courses in my major to improve my ability to create compelling news stories with my phone. This project helped me understand how to properly shoot on an iPhone, and that experience will benefit me as I continue developing my communication and visual storytelling abilities. This assignment showed me how to create content more intentionally, and I know these techniques will help me produce clearer, more engaging visual stories in the future.
